Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO) Announces
New Company Locations in the Sacramento Region
Sacramento, Calif., March 24, 2010—SACTO welcomed and honored seven companies that have located in the Sacramento Region over the past year at its annual Salute to New Industry luncheon held on March 23, 2010. Honored companies included: Billtrust; ETIMEX Solar USA, Inc.; Gemco Minerals Inc.; N Solar Inc.; Nestle Waters North America; OPDE Group US; and ZETA Communities.
These companies will bring almost 800 new direct jobs and nearly $89 million in capital investment into the Sacramento Region. Overall, due to the ripple effect, these companies are expected to contribute a total of over 1,600 jobs, $580 million in output, $151 million in new employee compensation, and $2.6 million in state and local tax revenue to the region’s economy. Five of the seven companies can be classified as high value, and 85 percent of the new jobs created are related to the clean energy technology sector.
“The Salute to New Industry event showcases the work that has been done over the course of the previous year. It speaks directly to the mission that SACTO has carried out for the past 35 years—recruiting and assisting companies that create new jobs and new investment for the Sacramento Region,” said Jeanne Reaves, SACTO Chair and President and CEO of Jeanne Reaves Consulting.
Commenting on the importance of clean energy technology companies to the diversification and further development of the Sacramento Region’s economy, SACTO Deputy Director Bob Burris said “We are seeing tremendous interest in the Sacramento Region from new prospects involved in clean technology and energy efficiency products or services. Over the last year, 51 percent of new prospects were in this sector, and almost two-thirds of these firms are based internationally. These international firms are considering the region for their first significant locations in the U.S., and 70 percent are interested in establishing manufacturing and R&D facilities.”
SACTO would like to thank Presenting Sponsor PG&E and the many other organizations whose generous support helped make this event possible, including: Bank of the West; Cable & Kilpatrick; CB Richard Ellis, Inc.; City of West Sacramento; County of Sacramento; Downey Brand Attorneys LLP; Grubb and Ellis Company; McClellan Business Park; Perry-Smith LLP; Roebbelen; Sacramento Business Journal, Sacramento Magazines Corporation; and SMA America, Inc.
