SACTO ON THE ROAD – FALL MARKETING MISSIONS
The Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO) staff and community partners are traveling around the country and world on business recruitment missions over the next couple of months.
Barbara Hayes just returned from a trip to New York City which included meetings with selected site location consultants and corporate real estate directors and participation in the International Economic Development Council’s annual meeting.
Mary Post, Economic Development Manager for PG&E and one of SACTO’s valued community partners, represented the Sacramento Region while attending the Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) annual conference in Virginia. IAMC is comprised of the corporate real estate directors of the Fortune 500 manufacturing companies – some of which have significant operations in the Sacramento Region.
SACTO Chair, Jeff Koewler, SACTO Deputy Director, Bob Burris, and SMUD Economic Development Director, JD Stack are currently traversing Germany conducting meetings with clean energy/green technology companies that have expressed an interest in establishing operations in California and the Sacramento Region. The companies were specifically selected based on SACTO’s “high value and headquarter” recruitment strategy, as well as the emphasis on clean energy and green technology corporate development that has arisen from the strategies adopted by Partnership for Prosperity.
“The strength of UC Davis’ newly established Energy Efficiency Center, the aggressive role our three utilities, PG&E, SMUD and Roseville Electric play in the area of green energy/clean tech development and energy efficiency combined with a myriad of resources, expertise and local passion for this industry sector makes the Sacramento Region an attractive and smart location for these types of companies,” stated SACTO Chair, Jeff Koewler.
Bob Burris will continue on to London, following the German recruitment portion of his trip, to take part in BIOPartnering. BIOPartnering is an annual meeting of emerging American and foreign biotech companies and the venture capital community. The Sacramento Region, and in particular UC Davis, is well-known and well-respected at this conference.
Upon his return, Bob Burris, together with Tracey Schaal, SACTO’s Director of Strategic Marketing and Micah Runner, Senior Project Manager for the City of Sacramento’s Economic Development Department, will attend CORENET – the Corporate Real Estate Network – Annual Meeting of Members. The meeting brings together site location consultants and corporate real estate directors representing major U.S corporations. The CORENET conference will also include meetings with select media representatives to promote the Sacramento Region.
In November, Barbara Hayes will travel to Japan to meet with select Japanese companies. Upon her return, Hayes will head to New York City for an intensive marketing and promotion mission, accompanied by community partners Paul Hahn, Economic Development Director for the County of Sacramento, John Dangberg, Assistant City Manager for Economic Development with the City of Sacramento, and JD Stack, Economic Development Director for SMUD.
