SACTO Reaccredited by the International Economic Development Council

[Washington, D.C.] – The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) announced today that the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO) has again been recognized as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). Originally accredited in 2005, the organization has achieved reaccreditation. It is one of only 22 organizations nationally that has attained this standard of excellence.

“The Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization displays the professionalism, commitment, and technical expertise that is deserving of this honor,” said IEDC President and CEO, Jeff Finkle.

The AEDO program is a comprehensive peer review process that measures economic development organizations against commonly held standards in the profession. The program consists of two phases: documentation review and an onsite visit. Each phase is designed to evaluate information about the structure, organization, funding, program, and staff of the candidate economic development organization.

Maintenance of the AEDO status is required every three years and is accomplished through documentation submission and/or onsite visits by a team of the AEDO subcommittee.

“Earning the AEDO accreditation tells the community and prospects that SACTO has attained a measure of excellence assuring that their trust is well placed and their business is in good hands. It also reaffirms SACTO’s leadership, both regionally and nationally, that has been so finely demonstrated over the past 34 years,” said Toosje Koll, SACTO’s 2008/2009 Chair.

The International Economic Development Council is the largest membership association serving economic and community development professionals in North America with over 4,600 members nationwide and abroad.

SACTO is the Sacramento Region’s leading facilitator of economic development. It brings together the organizations, information, and resources in the pursuit of talent, and investment needed to ensure regional prosperity and global competitiveness.
