Yesterday SACTO welcomed and honored eight companies that have located or expanded in the Sacramento Region over the past year at its annual Salute to New Industry luncheon. Honored companies included: Air Canada; Andersen Corporation: Ecostream US, Inc.; ExpressJet; Hunter Douglas; Intellitec Products, LLC; Pacific Ethanol, Inc.; and RagingWire Enterprise Solutions. These companies will bring 850 new direct jobs and $128 million in capital investment into the Sacramento Region. Overall, due to the ripple effect, these companies are expected to contribute a total of over 1,500 jobs, $210 million in output and 63 million in new employee compensation to the region’s economy.
In addition, SMA America, the largest supplier of solar inverters in the world has chosen Rocklin for expansion and relocation of its only American facility and North American headquarters. SMA America’s parent company, SMA Technologie AG, is based in Niestetal, Germany. The 25,000 square foot marketing and distribution facility will initially employ 49 people and is currently led by Barry Rockwell, VP of Operations.
Continuing the growing trend of clean technology companies locating in the Sacramento Region, SACTO expects to announce the location of up to five new clean energy technology companies in the next month. These locations are expected to create an additional 550 new direct jobs, $482 million in output, $153 million in employee compensation and more than $24 million in state and local taxes. With nearly 60 percent of SACTO’s recent prospects in the clean technology sector, we expect this trend to continue.
